Goatacre Manor Care Centre

Yesterday we visited the Goatacre Manor Care Centre to perform for their residents.

This was our second trip to the centre following a successful gig at the end of January 2018. The lounge audience was much larger than for our previous visit – and included Febe the dog!

We welcomed back our tenor singer John Johnston who has missed several concerts since the start of the year due to illness. In addition we were pleased for debutant Chris Scott who took his place amongst the tenors for the performance.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and at the end we were treated to some special Easter cakes to accompany our teas.

EOTT Welcomes New Singer

The group are very pleased to welcome new singer Chris Scott.

Chris joined us for rehearsals last night, and enjoyed himself so much that he announced he would be performing with us at our next gig. He is a first tenor singer and will have Roger Whitehouse as a fellow ‘top tenor’.

Chris is known to a number of us as he is also a member of the Chippenham Male Voice Choir.

We hope he has a long and happy stay with us.

Cambrian Green Court, Yate

This afternoon we travelled to Yate, near Bristol to entertain the residents of Cambrian Green Court. This was our second visit to the home following a successful performance in November 2017.

There was a large turnout of residents and we felt quite surrounded. We sang for an hour – although tea was served to the audience during the second half of the performance. We didn’t mind, and we received our refreshments at the end.

The organiser of the concert had lived in Corsham and she recognised the charity which we support – because her blind son attended the holiday club during the Nineties. It was nice to introduce her (after the performance) to Dave Sperritt so that they could talk about the club.

Today we were without two singers: Nick Greene is away on holiday in the Lake District; and John Johnston is recovering from his hospital stay. Our programme was as follows:-

  1. Sweet Caroline
  2. With A Little Help
  3. I Can See Clearly Now

Tuesday Club, Malmesbury

Yesterday we performed for the Tuesday Club at the Activity Zone in Malmesbury.

There was a very good turn-out by the club for this performance, and we introduced our set by informing the audience that most of the songs we would be singing will appear on our next album.

After we had sung a few songs one member of the audience asked whether we would be providing the entertainment at the Royal Wedding later in the year. We had to confess that no one had asked us yet, but we appealed to the audience to mention our names to Harry and Meghan.

We performed a combination of two Fats Domino classics as a tribute to the recently deceased artist. This was the very first public performance of the songs and they went down very well. Indeed, at the end of the performance we were asked by an audience member to consider a similar type of song sung by the great Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry.

Our programme is shown below. After the performance we were supplied with tea and cake. Missing from today’s line-up were Roger Whitehouse (holiday) and John Johnston (hospital).
